Margate to Reculver and return, Saturday 15 March 2025

This is a day paddle from a beach West of Margate to Reculver Towers. The route follows the coastline, affords plenty of opportunity to stop and is an ideal paddle for those new or relatively new to the sea. The aim is to reach the Reculver for lunch before conducting the return leg. The estimated distance is 6nm (12km) each way with some tidal assistance. There may be a surf landing for lunch, which can be exciting!

This trip is ideal for those who have been attending Thursday evening paddles or Sunday paddles and have some paddle fitness, and are looking for one of their first trips on the sea.
We plan to launch about 11:00am and be back at the launch site at about 4pm. It is about 2 hours travel each way from the Arches.
All trips can only go ahead if the conditions of sea and weather permit and this can only be assessed in the few days before the day of the trip. There will be a WhatsApp group set up for those going and an on-line meeting on the Wednesday before the trip. The trip is also dependent upon being able to move and recover the appropriate number of kayaks to the trip start point.
